Day 62 and The Last Link

A few weeks ago, Jeff mailed Bailey a box of construction paper strips with numbers on each of them. She linked them together and began a countdown to the next time they'd see each other. She started off with 23 links (I think) on October 10th and she took down the last one today... hurray hurray! haha

Day 61 and Pumpkin Painting

It has always been more fun for me to create art on a pumpkin with a paint brush rather than a knife. Nothing brings back more fond autumn memories than sitting around the table with brush in hand, and a blank, bumpy, seasonal canvas in front of me. Thanks girls for bringing back the tradition!

Day 60 and The Halloween Aisle

I love Halloween and how little girls can dress up a pretend they're princesses or fairies and little boys live their fantasy for a night by being Superman or a NFL Football player. But seriously, do we need this much candy? ...regardless, we'll have some at our house for our trick or treaters.

Day 59 and Studying

And so Round 2 of tests begin... the weather was lovely today wasn't it?

Day 58 and The Fort

It was a dark and stormy night. Outside the cold air howled and the trees bent beneath the blustery wind. It seemed only fitting for Jessie and Bailey, in another childhood whim, to gather blankets and sheets to built a fort of sorts, grab a favorite book and read by flashlight...

Day 57 and Up on the Housetop

Our good friends of the brick house, (Sara, Sarah, Megan, Kelyn, and Victoria) are just so wonderful! They even let us climb up on their roof for a picture...

Day 56 and Embracing the Day!

October 23, 2009

It was a beautiful morning. We just couldn't resist the urge to go outside and play in the cool October weather before the start of class and work.

Day 55 and Hide and Seek... Sort of

Not really hide and seek, but oftentimes I'll get home from class or studying or wherever and will see Bailey's car out front... but no Bailey in the house. I don't have to look far, just open the window blinds and find her on the back porch with a cell phone by her ear. Gotta love Jeff ;)

Day 54 and the Attic

We just discovered our attic. Cool.

Day 53 and Ready to Run

It was still dark outside as we prepared for a morning run. Yes, I actually ran! Bailey runs quite frequently in the mornings, but this was my first time in over a year. Haha I think I'll stick with my bike or go back to the pool...

Day 52 and Emily Turns 22

Our sweet roommate Emily (the one making the fishy face) turned 22 today! She had a busy day, but we were able to top it off, literally, at a new frozen yogurt place called Spoons and a mini photo-shoot with the balloons Katie blew up for her.Happy Birthday Emily! We love you :)

Day 51 and Truth and Grace

October 18, 2009

Truth and Grace is a time after Sunday fellowship meals at New Life where kids come and share what they're learning about God and the scripture they're memorizing each week. What I love most about this (apart from the mini-worship session) is the fact that the youth-group-aged kids lead the younger kids in small group discussions; it's so cool seeing them step as leaders at a young age. This picture looks pretty low-key, but don't let it fool you. "Play time" is generally mass chaos with kids running, jumping, chasing, yelling, and having fun while the parents clean up the sanctuary.

Days 1-50 Rejects

You can imagine, that in trying to attain the "perfect picture" each day, it takes several tries to get the one we want. The following are photos that just didn't make the cut but were definitely blog-worthy. Enjoy!

Day 50 and the President Comes to Town

We were honored to have President Obama come to our university and recognize A&M's commitment to service. Traffic near campus was crazy but Bailey and I arrived just in time to see his motorcade drive through (it all happened so fast I didn't get a picture!) It was neat to see the crowd go crazy with protest and support signs as his car passed by. After the cops finally let us cross the street, Bailey and I saw this super cute girl named Sky, with her sweet sign and bike she actually built! She's a painter here in College Station and some of her work will be shown at the Village Cafe opening on December 4th. We've got it marked in our calendar! (If you read this, Sky, it was lovely meeting you!)

Day 48 and Movement

I don't really have a story for this shot. I was singing, "stop! in the name of love" today as I approached a stop sign, and thought it would be a good idea for a 365 photo. I also like the contrast of our movement and the stop sign in the background. Yay for juxtapositions.

Day 47 and Playing in the Puddle

It rained all day , and since we'd already been soaked once today on campus, we figured it wouldn't hurt to be wet again for the sake of 365. This picture wasn't easy to get, and we had many failed attempts, but in the end it was totally worth it!

Day 46 and Trees

And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight...
Genesis 2:9

Day 45 and Tipping Over the Couch

We were both pretty tired and it was late... too late to go looking for a cool place to take picture. So I thought it would be a good idea, considering we weren't doing anything exciting, to take a symmetrical photo and make it look cool. But as I got in position after hitting the self timer, I leaned ever so slightly to the right, making the couch tip over, and scaring Bailey (and myself) to death. This photo is the result of my clumsy mistake. We laughed for a good five minutes after this.

Day 44 and The Craving

We were all hanging out and Bailey had a sweet tooth. So off we went to Kroger for some mint chocolate chip ice cream. This was the last one on the shelf, oh happy day!

Day 43 and Our Favorite Things Part 3

THE COLOR GREEN

Day 42 and Financial Peace...

The Lord has really laid in on my heart (and Bailey's) that since we're becoming grown ups, we should learn how to use our money more wisely. We went to Chelsea's house where she pulled out this very informative book by Dave Ramsey. There were several terms I didn't understand and/or don't have to worry about right now (like RFI's and 2nd mortgages...) but I'm looking forward to honoring the Lord with the little money He's entrusted to me by being disciplined in sticking with this plan. Here's to becoming an adult, thanks for your help Chelsea!

Day 41 and The Pumpkin Patch

Well, it's officially fall! Yesterday I drove by the first pumpkin patch I'd seen since last October so today all of us roommates paid it a visit. Though I have to admit the weather was a little too hot for this fall excursion, we still had a lot of fun!
(It was also a great opportunity to whip out the brand new tripod!)

Day 40 and The Brand New Tripod

In doing this project, Bailey and I had to be extra creative in finding a spot to set the camera where we could get both/all of us in the frame. In almost every photo, we've used my camera's self timer while sitting the Olympus on random objects. For example, in Day 36, we sat the camera on our mailbox, in Day 29 we sat it on my car's hood, in Day 20 we sat it on my plastic cake carrier that I'd brought for Life Group, and in Day 5 we had to bring out the coffee table to the front yard. Other times we'd ask friends or random people to take our pictures... Not that this was terrible process, at times it was a fun challenge, but I've been longing for a tripod for quite a while now.
And today this longing was fulfilled. Oh how this tripod will open up creative opportunities to take pictures we just haven't been able to attempt!

Day 39 and The CoverGirl Aisle

I needed milk. Bailey needed eyeliner.
Walmart is rather convenient isn't it?

Day 38 and Unpacking

October 4, 2009

We both got home late from our trips, and had lots of unpacking to do. We chose the "dump it at once, and organize it later" strategy. We were tired.

Day 37 and Our Moms

October 3, 2009

Yes, we love our moms, and we loved going home to visit them for the weekend.
Somewhere in a cardboard box in the attic of my house, lies a homemade, construction paper card that I made for my mom in Pre-K. The front of it has a flower (with a cartoon face of course) that I colored all by myself. The inside reads something like this:
If moms were like flowers on a sunny summer day,
I'd pick you in a minute if I could have my way!
Still holds true after all of these years :)

Day 36 The Road Trips Home

Bailey and I both traveled to our hometowns, Mineola and Conroe, respectively, this weekend. Both of us are going to our alma mater's Homecoming football game, too! We're both excited to spend time with our families and friends! This morning we got up before work and school, packed up and took a picture before saying our goodbyes.
Oh home sweet home :)

Day 35 and The Victory Dance

This week, collectively we had four tests, two projects, a quiz and lots of homework due.... it's been a long five days. The fact that we made it through is something to celebrate!

Day 34 and the Askew's Table

September 30, 2009

The Askew's have a really cool, dark wooden table that we all love to gather around and chit chat before and after LIFE group. Bailey was talking to somebody about logarithms and I was trying to pay attention and take a picture at the same time.

Day 33 and the Terry Banquet

September 29, 2009

Bailey and I discovered soon after we met that we were both Terry Scholars. The Terry Scholarship is huge a blessing in our lives, and we'll always be so grateful for it. In the fall we all meet at a dinner banquet and in the spring, a picnic. It's so nice having a companion at all of these semi-awkward events!

(Note: This is a pretty fancy-smancy event, so I'd like to point that we're poised and our pinkies are up as we drink our punch!)
haha

Day 32 and the Special Delivery

September 28, 2009

The doorbell rang today,
with flowers from someone far away.
Jeff sent Bailey roses,
right under our noses
what a fun surprise for the day!
