A few weeks ago, Jeff mailed Bailey a box of construction paper strips with numbers on each of them. She linked them together and began a countdown to the next time they'd see each other. She started off with 23 links (I think) on October 10th and she took down the last one today... hurray hurray! haha

Day 51 and Truth and Grace
October 18, 2009
Truth and Grace is a time after Sunday fellowship meals at New Life where kids come and share what they're learning about God and the scripture they're memorizing each week. What I love most about this (apart from the mini-worship session) is the fact that the youth-group-aged kids lead the younger kids in small group discussions; it's so cool seeing them step as leaders at a young age. This picture looks pretty low-key, but don't let it fool you. "Play time" is generally mass chaos with kids running, jumping, chasing, yelling, and having fun while the parents clean up the sanctuary.

Day 50 and the President Comes to Town
We were honored to have President Obama come to our university and recognize A&M's commitment to service. Traffic near campus was crazy but Bailey and I arrived just in time to see his motorcade drive through (it all happened so fast I didn't get a picture!) It was neat to see the crowd go crazy with protest and support signs as his car passed by. After the cops finally let us cross the street, Bailey and I saw this super cute girl named Sky, with her sweet sign and bike she actually built! She's a painter here in College Station and some of her work will be shown at the Village Cafe opening on December 4th. We've got it marked in our calendar! (If you read this, Sky, it was lovely meeting you!)

Day 45 and Tipping Over the Couch
We were both pretty tired and it was late... too late to go looking for a cool place to take picture. So I thought it would be a good idea, considering we weren't doing anything exciting, to take a symmetrical photo and make it look cool. But as I got in position after hitting the self timer, I leaned ever so slightly to the right, making the couch tip over, and scaring Bailey (and myself) to death. This photo is the result of my clumsy mistake. We laughed for a good five minutes after this.

Day 42 and Financial Peace...
The Lord has really laid in on my heart (and Bailey's) that since we're becoming grown ups, we should learn how to use our money more wisely. We went to Chelsea's house where she pulled out this very informative book by Dave Ramsey. There were several terms I didn't understand and/or don't have to worry about right now (like RFI's and 2nd mortgages...) but I'm looking forward to honoring the Lord with the little money He's entrusted to me by being disciplined in sticking with this plan. Here's to becoming an adult, thanks for your help Chelsea!

Day 41 and The Pumpkin Patch
Well, it's officially fall! Yesterday I drove by the first pumpkin patch I'd seen since last October so today all of us roommates paid it a visit. Though I have to admit the weather was a little too hot for this fall excursion, we still had a lot of fun!
(It was also a great opportunity to whip out the brand new tripod!)

Day 40 and The Brand New Tripod
In doing this project, Bailey and I had to be extra creative in finding a spot to set the camera where we could get both/all of us in the frame. In almost every photo, we've used my camera's self timer while sitting the Olympus on random objects. For example, in Day 36, we sat the camera on our mailbox, in Day 29 we sat it on my car's hood, in Day 20 we sat it on my plastic cake carrier that I'd brought for Life Group, and in Day 5 we had to bring out the coffee table to the front yard. Other times we'd ask friends or random people to take our pictures... Not that this was terrible process, at times it was a fun challenge, but I've been longing for a tripod for quite a while now.

Day 38 and Unpacking
Day 37 and Our Moms
October 3, 2009
Yes, we love our moms, and we loved going home to visit them for the weekend.
Somewhere in a cardboard box in the attic of my house, lies a homemade, construction paper card that I made for my mom in Pre-K. The front of it has a flower (with a cartoon face of course) that I colored all by myself. The inside reads something like this:

If moms were like flowers on a sunny summer day,Still holds true after all of these years :)
I'd pick you in a minute if I could have my way!

Day 36 The Road Trips Home
Bailey and I both traveled to our hometowns, Mineola and Conroe, respectively, this weekend. Both of us are going to our alma mater's Homecoming football game, too! We're both excited to spend time with our families and friends! This morning we got up before work and school, packed up and took a picture before saying our goodbyes.
Oh home sweet home :)

Day 35 and The Victory Dance
Day 34 and the Askew's Table
Day 33 and the Terry Banquet
September 29, 2009
Bailey and I discovered soon after we met that we were both Terry Scholars. The Terry Scholarship is huge a blessing in our lives, and we'll always be so grateful for it. In the fall we all meet at a dinner banquet and in the spring, a picnic. It's so nice having a companion at all of these semi-awkward events!
(Note: This is a pretty fancy-smancy event, so I'd like to point that we're poised and our pinkies are up as we drink our punch!)
