CARDIGANS AND BLUE JEANS
I wouldn't call it an obsession, rather a fashion staple.

Day 30 and the Coffee Shop on Harvey
Bailey and I met Claire in LIFE group and have come to appreciate her gentleness and love for the Lord. We met up with her at Mugwalls for coffee this morning to get to know her better (we think she's super cool... haha) and it was wonderful. Note that in this picture we're talking about cheese trays.

Day 28 and the Dinner Date with Dara
We met Dara through Aggie Sisters for Christ a couple of years ago, and though Bailey gets to see her in their Communication Theories class, I rarely ever do. It was so great getting to catch up with her and talk/laugh about life over dinner at one of our favorite places, Blue Baker. What a sweet time with an even sweeter friend!

Day 27 and the Pick Up Truck
Blaine in our LIFE Group has a really cool black Ford truck; last week as we were leaving the Askew's house, I saw him get in it and thought to myself, "That's so going in the project!" Sure enough, thanks to Blaine's awesome photography skills, we got a pretty cool shot sitting in his truck... in the rain... in the dark.

Day 25 and the Dead Thing in the Trash
Bailey and I were assaulted by a rancid smell this morning as we walked into the kitchen. We nearly passed out when we investigated the smell's source and opened the garbage can. Exclaiming, "WHAT CRAWLED IN HERE AND DIED!!??!!??" Bailey grabbed the bag out of the can while I opened the door to the garage where we were able to dispose of the nasty smelling trash properly. We didn't even have time to figure out what food caused the stench and our garage will probably stink something awful until trash pick up on Wednesday, but as long as it's out of the house, who cares!

Day 16 and the Memorial
Today our fellow Aggies honored the fallen men and women who lost their lives in the tragic terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Eight years have passed, and I still get goosebumps at the thought of the innocent blood that was shed by the people in the twin towers and the lives sacrificed by the brave firefighters and police officers that went in to save those lost in the rubble. I remember the wave of patriotism that spread over the country as our freedoms (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) were at stake, and the songs, advertisements, etc that ensued; encouraging us to be thankful that we live in such a grand country as America. But in retrospect, I can't help but be more thankful for innocent blood of Christ, who sacrificed his life to save us from Death - who gives us freedom forever and ever and ever.
I hope that today, as you take a moment to remember those who died on September 11, that you also praise our grand and mighty God for sending his son here on earth with the sole purpose of living and dying so that we could have eternal freedom.

Day 15 and the Meir Lane Park
Bailey discovered this little park on one of her morning jogs and thought it would be a fun photo spot. Since there were three of us (Emily came!) and two big kid swings, I got the baby swing... good stuff. Here's to growing up and getting nauseous after five minutes of swinging and singing A Whole New World. The swing set just isn't what it used to be. haha

Day 14 and the Pre-LIFE Group Dinner
These lovely ladies came over for a Mexican inspired dinner before our various LIFE groups. As we were all heading out the door, I stopped everyone to take a moment and wait for the camera's self timer to do it's job on the mantle. I like how the sun beaming through the window creates a glowing effect.

Day 13 and the Costume Box
Often the four of us roommates gather around our kitchen table to share a meal or slave over textbooks as we study for school. Today however, we gathered around Bailey's "magical" costume box and reminisced over childhood fantasies, reverting back to our old lives of caprice. What a great study break! haha

Day 11 and the Pancake-Pizza Mishap
Distracted by the conversation at hand with Jeff, Bailey casually tossed in a frozen pizza for lunch. Not paying attention, she didn't notice that Jeff had put the leftover chocolate chip pancake plates in the oven for safe keeping... Halfway through the baking process, we smelt an odd mixture of chocolate and pizza only to discover Bailey's error. Oh goodness!
Catching Up: Days 6-10
Day 10 and the Surprise Pancake Breakfast: Not gonna lie, I look like I'm five years old in this picture. Then again, it did feel a bit like Christmas morning when Jeff woke us up at the crack of dawn with this little surprise, didn't it Bailey? haha Y'all are precious, and the pancakes were super yummy!
Day 9 and the Pretty Flowers from Jeff: We still don't know what they're called, but after a long drive from Arkansas, Bailey's stud boyfriend stopped to get her these lovely flowers. So cute!
Day 8 and the Usual Long Distance Phone Call: It was getting late and not up for being super creative, I thought it would be a good idea to capture what a typical night looks like. Since Bailey's boyfriend lives in Arkansas, a part of her evening is spent talking on the phone with him and me interjecting whenever I feel compelled to do so. (I'm totally giving her a hard time, but the picture turned out good I think!) ...haha
Day 7 and the Homemakers: We've decided to invite girls over on Wednesday nights for a home cooked meal before we break off into our New Life Small groups. Even though I pretty much burnt my dish, it was still so fun hanging out and being little June Cleavers over dinner (hence the aprons..)
Day 6 and the Nosebleed Section: A&M has a great ministry/Bible study called Breakaway. Hundreds of students gather on Tuesday nights at Reed Arena to worship our God and hear a phenomenal message by Ben Stuart. As you can tell, we're a campus full of students in search for truth, which is awesome if you like to arrive early... but if you're a bit on the late side... you'll get a bird's eye view.

Catching Up: Days 1-5
Day 5 and the First Day of School: We packed our lunches and backpacks, got all dressed up, and took the traditional first day of school pic outside the front door. This one's for you, mom :)
Day 4 and the Sky Ranch Hang Out: After hearing stories all summer long of Bailey ministering to students alongside such passionate servant leaders, it was so cool to meet them and spend time getting know them. This picture was all staged, of course, but so fun nonetheless! (I should note that I DID NOT chug this Diet Coke... just wanted to represent how much I love this drink in the photo; haha)
Day 3 and the New Life Barbecue: We love our church and the people who make up this body of believers. It was getting lat and we had two boys trying to take this picture... yeah it was pretty entertaining watching them trying to aim my camera in the dark and get us all in the photo.Day 4 and the Sky Ranch Hang Out: After hearing stories all summer long of Bailey ministering to students alongside such passionate servant leaders, it was so cool to meet them and spend time getting know them. Day 2 and and an Early Morning: Bailey and I are morning glories. It's unusual for us to sleep in past 7 am. No, we're not your usual college girls. God has really laid it on our hearts to be disciplined in making time to be in His Word. Our back porch is a little sanctuary on its own and with our coffee mugs, dawn is such a sweet time.
Day 1 and The Bare House: We'd been moved in for several days... and we still didn't have anything up on the walls. The house is precious and such a relaxing place; great for entertaining and being hospitable. What a blessing it has been; just goes to show it doesn't matter what's on the walls, but who lives within them that makes a place home :) ...corny?... who cares!
About Our Picture Project
Hello friends!
The idea formed in our heads shortly after this picture was taken in March of 2009. Knowing we'd be roommates the coming fall, Bailey and I decided we wanted to capture our daily misadventures by taking a picture a day every day a whole school year.
Throughout our friendship, our prayer has been to live each day intentionally and make the most of every moment we've been given. It has been so amazing to look back over the past two years of college and see how much we've grown, spiritually, emotionally, relationally, etc... Problem is, college is so fast paced and thus, memories are made and quickly blurred into oblivion in the busy-ness of our pressure cooked life.
Our aim this year is to slow down and just enjoy the lives we're blessed with; to set aside time every day to be creative and take pictures that allow us hold on to fun things we do, people we meet, places we go, and anything we learn along the way. Hopefully (assuming you keep up with this blog) you'll witness a transformation in us as we grow and change. And maybe, if you're lucky enough, you'll find yourself included in our photos!
Enjoy our year long picture project!
Love,
Jessie and Bailey
